WHAT TO EXPECT
Practices that progress as you do
A balanced class that evolves and progresses practices over the year, changing with the seasons and responding to the students needs. Yoga is a personal experience, unique to each person.
Something for all abilities
Practices are given in a staged format where additional options for more difficulty or stronger practices are given once everyone is comfortable with the first stage.
Non-competive environment
Never be competitive or compare yourself with others. Completely accepting yourself as you are will bring the most progress in your practice.
A deeper personal experience
A teaching style that facilitates a deeper experience. This is done by using precise verbal language, and by the teacher gradually reducing the reliance of the student on using visual cues.
WHAT NOT TO EXPECT
To get a ‘good work out’
Even though our classes do develop strength and flexibility, if you are used to high intensity exercise or lifting weights, then this class may not develop strength or cardio vascular for you but there are many more subtle benefits available in yoga such as managing the emotions and finding a deep sense of clam.
To have the teacher touch you
We respect your personal space and meditative state. Instruction will be repeated by the teacher to make adjustments if needed.
WHAT TO BRING
If it’s your first few times, we have enough equipment for you. Please advise at the time of booking.
For returning students please bring your own:
- yoga mat, preferably made of natural materials (they are easy to make yourself)
- blanket (for underneath your yoga mat, so you don’t come into contact with the actual floor)
- blanket for covering yourself during yoga nidra as it is practiced lying down
- water bottle and
- what ever you need to sit comfortably on the floor (e.g. meditation stool, rolled blanket, cushions etc). Chairs are always available and encouraged.
If you need to buy any of these please talk to us, as we can suggest the best options and supply some products.
CLASS GUIDELINES
Aim to arrive 5 minutes early as all classes start at the exact time advertised. If you do arrive a few minutes late, do come in, but first: take a deep breath and avoid noisy keys and other distractions for those already in practice.
Ensure mobile phones are switched off.
Please do not wear perfume to class. People with allergies may be sensitive to it.
Practice on an empty stomach. It is recommended that you do not eat two hours before yoga. If a special condition prevents this, fruit or a handful of soaked, skinned almonds and raisins is more easily digested.
If you need to discuss anything about the class, please feel free to talk after class with us.
